My Blog Therapy

Some people spend lots of money on therapy.  Let's just say I'm a little too 'frugal' for that.  I have found my comfort/solace/understanding in talking with friends on the running trails, via my hubby late at night or on the train before/after work, or a wonderful 'Girls Night Out' on a Thursday night over wine.  All of this is great - in addition to some wonderful advice/stories/life experiences I read and reflect on daily via some amazing writers online!  Below are some of my favorite 'must reads' for anyone who is doing their best to try and pretend you are 'balancing it all' like me!

McRunnerhttp://mcrunner.com/ - Joe is a 15 time marathoner from Chicago - who recently PR'd at the Los Angeles Marathon in 2011 while only eating McDonald's for 30 days prior to the race.  Check out his story here and also follow his next challenge as he prepares for the Chicago Marathon this fall!

A Mother's Tonichttp://motherstonic.com/ - Deanna is a Canadian runner from Vancouver who is doing her best to continue to stay active and also raise her three kids while being at home the last ten years.  Her goal is to embrace life's challenges and frustrations with humor instead of bashing her head against a wall; which she also does, some days

Run Momma Runhttp://runmommarunnews.wordpress.com/ - Laura is a 'Momma Runner' from Oregon.  She is self described as a runner momma, wife, lover of long distance, salty face and post-run stinky cheese.  She has online book clubs and sells great runner gear as well.  What a great motivator!!!

Same Old Shannonhttp://www.sameoldshannon.com/ - Shannon is a good friend of mine from the Chicago Suburbs.  She continually enlightens me on the daily battles of parenting, writing, staying active, and managing the struggles of life in general.  Also - someone I love to share a treadmill next to or a glass of wine with.  Check out her blog daily for some good motivation and her humorous/sarcastic take on life!

Revelations in Absurdityhttp://revelationsinabsurdity.blogspot.com/ - I met this fellow 'momma of two' at my kiddos preschool two years ago.  Her daily challenge of working and raising boy/girl young-uns has always inspired me - particularly the fun and interesting lens that she sees life through!

Little Preschool on the Prairiehttp://mserinsroom.blogspot.com/ - Miss Erin truly has been an enlightenment to the life of my twins.  For the past two years she has taught our children thru play-based learning. She has foundations in the Reggio Emilia approach.  Weekly she posts stories of her interesting teaching methods in the classroom and shares the children's experiences.  Check it out for great ideas and activities that anyone can do with their preschooler!

Homewood-Flossmoor Science Pubhttp://homewood-flossmoorsciencepub.blogspot.com/  Homewood-Flossmoor Science Pub is a monthly event that rotates between Grady's Grille in Homewood and the Flossmoor Brewery.  For an engineer/science geek like my husband and I, this is a frequent 'date night' attraction of ours on a monthly basis.  Suds and Science on a week night - who could ask for more?!?
